Hunger Van

Hunger Van

The ICCP Hunger Van is a community service program dedicated to serving those in need of food and basic toiletries in and around the nation’s capital. The program aims to mentor our youth in preparing, packaging and delivering monthly meals and supplies to:

  • Federal City Shelter, the nation’s largest homeless shelter in Washington, DC.
  • Franklin Square, Washington DC (serving the street homeless)
  • Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (Men’s shelter in Rockville)
  • Watkins House and Becky’s House (shelters for elderly, women and children)
ICCP Hunger Van volunteers pack 100 meals and serve 100 homeless individuals every 3rd Saturday of the month. Additionally, the program partakes in two main county events, facilitating a project for the community at large: the annual MLK Day of Service and the World of Montgomery Festival.

A glimpse into our monthly program!

In addition to providing a needed service to the community at large, this program is instrumental in providing youth development, as it is largely organized and led by youth from ages 12 – 24. This is a way for our youth and all volunteers to build community through service.
